Eye to Eye
Shoebox Redesign
Problem Statement
Design a shoe box that also functions as a display piece
Inspiration
Focused on sneakers with non-traditional packaging
Ideation
Thumbnail graphics
Initial form concepting
Storyboarding
A focus on eyes and pastel primaries to help exemplify the display aspect of the shoebox
Concept 1
The box is able to be held together in the vertical position as well as opened in a laid down position to display the soles of the sneaker
Possible sneaker for the shoebox that will match the graphic style
+ Allows for a display option without excessive material
- Difficult shape for storage
- Difficulty maintaining a closed position
Concept 2
A brace has been added in this concept to help keep the box shut in the upright position while still allowing for a display option when opened
- Too many moving pieces
+ Stays closed in an upright position
- Shape lacks interest
Final Concept
The box is held closed using magnets on the handle. This allows for less material to be used to hold it closed. The handles flip back and form a ninety-degree angle for a snug fit on any surface for s space-efficient display.
